Camara Island

Camara Island

We first went to the closest and most accessible island near shore ~ Camara. The island appears like a giant rocks in the middle of the sea. It showcase huge formation of rocks, shells, crystal water, white sand and pebbled beach.

Apologize for the watermarks because I still need to finalize the link that I want to use.

About the Island
Camara island has two sides separated by a white sandbar that becomes visible during the lowtide and disappears during the high tide. But our boatman name Kuya Joannie says that the sandbar is no longer connected in the next island because there are some koreans thefts who took and put it in the sand. So sad because this is one of the island that we must preserve and protect.

Where is Camara Island?
The island is located at Pundaquit, San Antonio Zambales.
From googlemap.
The surrounding waters are color emerald green. Huge rocks are scattered across the island. You can go beach combing and snorkeling here but since the island is relatively small there is little else you can do except to take pictures and feel the heat of the sun.
Supposed that island is connected by the sandbar but it's gone.
A scenery shot of the tree.

Rock Exploration
Sand Bathing
Swimming

Best Month to go?
Between March to May

How to get there?
Route from edsa to pundaquit san antonio, thanks to google map
Traveling via Private Vehicle
From Edsa take the NLEX(North Luzon Expressway) and take the San Fernando exit and head  southwest the road to Olongapo. Before you reach the Olongapo there's a shortcut the will take the SBMA(Subic Base Metropolitan Authority). Upon exiting the SBMA, head to northwest then you will pass by some town and then you will reach the San Antonio. Ask some locals for the way to Pundaquit then upon reaching to Pundaquit you will need to ride a boat to reach the Camara Island. It is better to contact some bangkeros or boatman before you go to Pundaquit so there no problem as soon as you arrive.

Traveling via Public Transport
The best and most advisable public transport at the moment is taking a bus to San Antonio Zambales and riding a tricycle to the town of Pundaquit then ride a boat to reach the camara Island. There are some public transports like Victory Liner offer headed to Iba, Zambales then get off to San Antonio Zambales, ride a tricycle headed to Pundaquit.
