Religious Burning Temple ~ Pashupatinath

The Pashupatinath  temple
Pashupatinath is Lord Shiva, the God of Gods. Ancient Scriptures (The Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas) have described Him as Lord of the entire living beings and the source of eternal bliss and peace. You can see at the center of the entrance is Lord Shiva.

The Pashupatinath  temple is one of the holiest temples of the world revered and worshiped both Hindus and by Buddhists. It has set a shining example of religious harmony. In the sanctum of the temple stands a Jyothirlinga (believed to have self appeared) the like of which is not found existent anywhere else in the world. It is a phallic idol, the symbol of Pashupatinath which has four images carved on its four sides. In front of the west gate of the temple is kept a colossal image of a gold guilt bull seated with composure on its four legs and with its eyes fixed on Lord Pashupatinath inside. It is mentioned in the Hindu scriptures that bull is the carrier of Lord Shiva.

This "extensive Hindu temple precinct" is a "sprawling collection of temples, ashrams, images and inscriptions raised over the centuries along the banks of the sacred Bagmati river" and is included as one of the seven monument groups in UNESCO's designation of Kathmandu Valley as a cultural heritage site. ~ Wikipedia

Dhruba and Zitart
Me and Zitart. Only hindus are the one who can enter inside the temple.

This is the front of western door that you will see a huge bronze bull ~ the Shiva's Nandi Bull.

Shiva's Nandi Bull
According to Hindu mythology the bull (Nandi) is the Shiva vehicle and gate keeper of Shiva Temples. The bull of Shiva in Pashupatinath is the largest Nandi in Nepal.
The face of Shiva's Nandi Bull

Lion Guard
Ganesha~ A God , the son of Lord Shiva. widely revered as the remover of obstacles and more generally, as the Lord of Beginnings and Lord of Obstacles.
Carved figure~ son of Lord Shiva, guards the entrance to the inner sanctum of the temple

Lord Shiva "The Lord of all animals"
Garuda~It is quite easy to recognize the half man half bird. Usually the Garuda is seen in a kneeling position on top of a pillar and in the ‘Namaskara mudra’. Putting two and two together, one should be able to derive that the temple in front of any Garuda is a Vishnu temple because Garuda is the vehicle, devotee and loyal follower of Vishnu.

The temple is huge promise
Time check 4pm.

More leashed goats are walked towards the spot, unaware of their fate

Goat~ a sacrifice made a million times on these grounds.
The burning area and the stone stupas are connected by a bridge over the sacred Bagmati river, which serves as a perfect vantage point to admire the chaos, the strange and the serenity that is Pashupatinath all together.
Passing by I heard a loud chanting, I tried to locate the source of the sound but failed to find it.
Some photos taken after the cremation
Here's a short video in pashupatinath.

As you see the golden circle at the left side of this photo. It's Lord Shiva Linga

I captured this shot of the Golden Bull from above the temple

I’m a big fan of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, so the fact that this is part of thelist, I was already happy to have made it there and seen it.  I was born as a Roman Catholic and I never knew anything about the Hindu religion until i traveled to Nepal. After all the walk through, Pashupatinath is to understand there religion and beliefs that one point or another all of us are nothing but ashes.
